Next ELAS social: February 2012
The next ELAS social will take place on a Saturday at the end of February or beiginning of March. The date and details will be decided at the next business meeting on 13 February and publicised on the website.
What happens at a regular social?
Members usually meet at 12.30pm on the last Saturday of the month. The group, usually consisting of six people or more, visits free galleries, the botanic gardens or goes on walks in the city. There is also lots of time to sit down and get to know each other in cafes or bars. The group is friendly and informal and members can stay for as long or as little time as they wish.
Longer socials
The monthly socials are normally held within Edinburgh to keep costs down. During the year, ELAS has long weekend away trips to areas outside of Edinburgh. Previous destinations have included Aberdeen, Inverness, Oban, Mull and Iona, southern Dumfrieshire and in England: Northumberland and the Lake District. There are also a few day trips planned during the year to places such as Glasgow, Dundee and Inverness.
